Breastfeeding

 Beside You

The #BesideYou Medway Campaign is here to show mums that we all support breastfeeding in Medway. #BesideYou can help mums find all the help and support they need, at breastfeeding groups, from peer supporters and health professionals and from friends and family. Breastfeeding isn’t just about mums. Whoever you are, you can show your support.

You can also get involved on Facebook, Instagram  or Twitter

Breastfeeding isn't always easy but there are so many benefits, which is why doctors recommend your baby is breastfed to at least six months. If you're struggling, need motivation, have questions or simply want to meet other mums to talk to about breastfeeding then we're here to help.

There are so many ways you can get help in Medway. You can go to a local breastfeeding group, talk to a local peer supporter or get our Baby Buddy app. Its packed full of advice, resources and helpful films that will answer all your questions about breastfeeding.

Some mums and babies take to breastfeeding easily, but sometimes it can be difficult at the beginning, sometimes it can be painful and it can take a little bit of time to get used to. Some people also feel awkward about feeding out and about, and over two thirds of mums in Medway stop breastfeeding before their baby is six weeks old. This means lots of mums and babies are missing out on the amazing benefits of breastfeeding.
