The An Active Medway team have a variety of group walks and cycle routes available. All times and locations are subject to change, so please contact Hazel Gallagher on 01634 331371 before attending.
Walking
Our Health walks are short, social walks that are led by Volunteer Walk Leaders. They are designed to help people get the most out of walking for their physical and mental health, and also provide a great opportunity to meet new people.
The groups are friendly and supportive, so are particularly beneficial to those who are getting little or no exercise, recovering from illness or lacking in confidence. All our walks are clearly graded so you can see how long they are, and if they include any hills, look for the acorn sign.
Our walks range from 30 mins, to 2/3 hrs for the more adventurous. The longer walks normally have a break halfway through.
All walks are free and led by trained Volunteer Walk Leaders. We try to ensure that refreshment facilities and toilets are available on our walks, but sometimes this is not possible.
Walking is a gentle form of exercise and good for all ages and abilities. Led walks are a great way to meet new people, and you can do
these walks independently or with friends and family.
We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and bring a drink and weather-proof coat when attending a walk. If you have any questions on any aspects of Health Walks please get in touch. Dogs on leads are also welcome on most walks.
For more information on the Group Walks and to get involved please phone Hazel Gallagher on 01634 331371 or email hazel.gallagher@medway.gov.uk.
